Real payments (Base Sepolia)

  1. Create a CDP API key and wallet secret at portal.cdp.coinbase.com.

  2. Switch the signer and fill .env:

    npx spendctl init --signer cdp --force
    # .env: CDP_API_KEY_ID, CDP_API_KEY_SECRET, CDP_WALLET_SECRET, PAYER_ACCOUNT_NAME

  3. Fund the wallet with testnet USDC and start:

    Terminal window
    npx spendctl wallet address
    npx spendctl wallet fund       # 1 USDC from the CDP faucet (repeatable, rate-limited)
    npx spendctl start

  4. Allow the seller’s host under your agent’s allow and call it with spendctl fetch.

The CDP server wallet signs the EIP-3009 authorization; the private key never exists on your machine. Our recorded run paid the official @x402/hono middleware through the public x402.org facilitator on Base Sepolia (eip155:84532): 0.001 USDC, tx 0x40d06e55d7d516080593b9f3a62e255edaca17f69ec64a472e0e6402077f9124, block 49710410, 2026-10-24 17:45 UTC.
